Description
It was a beautiful, warm Saturday afternoon the last time I
volunteered at Stone Fire. When I first
arrived to start my volunteering the children who were participating in the
galleries art class filled the room with joyous laughter. Maxine gave me the task of painting the northern
outside wall black. While I was painting, the smell of the local restaurants
and paint filled the air. The sound of the passing cars and trucks filled my
ears along with the faint bass coming from the stereo speakers inside.
The cool, salty breeze coming from the IndianRiver covered my skin like a cool blanket. The muscles in my hands were tense
and sore from gripping the paint brush to make long, even strokes of black paint
on the galleries wall. The sweat dripping down my face tasted of salt and felt
like cool water running down my cheek when the wind brushed my skin.
